Since living here in New Orleans I have had many friends who have become pregnant. As a nurse I began to wonder what services were available other than those offered by an obstetrician. However, I was unable to find a local maternal child health center which offers access to a ‘mothers group’ during the postpartum period. It is this need that inspired me to start NOLA Mothers Group. – Yanti Turang Dinkelacker
Vision
We envision the new mothers of New Orleans making informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth, and child rearing. This in turn will improve the development of the mother, child, and community as a whole.
Mission
To provide prenatal and post natal care for mothers to be with the education/skills necessary for a healthy informed birth and upbringing. In order to inform these mothers, LearnToLive Nola runs a monthly mothers group.
Program Objectives
-To work with pre and post natal moms in the New Orleans area
-To help, educate and promote well-being not only for the new babies but the mothers too
-To provide a space for moms and moms to be to connect with other women in the area.
-Every month the group covers new topics that aid with womens’ health and child rearing. For example – Sleeping, nutrition, post natal depression and sex.
